Domestic Helper Wanted – American Family in Kowloon

We are an American family living in Kowloon seeking a caring, trustworthy, and experienced nanny/domestic helper (preferably 50+ years old) to join our household.

About Us:

• Mama is an English teacher working full-time (including some Saturday afternoons).
• We live in a small apartment (250 sq. ft).
• You will have your own sleeping area (approx. 2m x 1.9m).
• Sundays off.
• We enjoy travel — our home country base is Australia, and we may occasionally need you to travel with us to destinations such as Bali, mainland China, or other places in Asia (most recently Thailand).
• We are a non-smoking, non-drinking family.
• We love music and often have dance parties at home.
• On Sundays, we attend virtual church together.

About Indigo (Age 4, turning 5 in April):

• Loving, kind, respectful, and very energetic.
• Independent — needs supervision more than constant care.
• Attends half-day preschool.
• Enjoys cooking and helping in the kitchen.
• Loves Legos, museums, and the park.
• Will be enrolled in dance classes and gymnastics.
• Big fan of firefighters and Spider-Man.
• Loves swimming — a nanny who can swim is a must.

Responsibilities:

• Provide loving care and supervision for Indigo, especially outside preschool hours.
• Take him to and from school and activities when Mama is working.
• Light household cleaning.
• Cooking is not required (Mama cooks and we often eat out).
• Accompany the family on occasional trips abroad.

Important Notes:

• You are not expected to parent our child — Mama is the parent and primary caregiver when at home.
• Must be kind, patient, and nurturing — like a grandmother or auntie.
• Absolutely no hitting or punishment; only gentle, positive guidance.
• Must respect our non-smoking, non-drinking household.

Requirements:

• Must have valid SCRC.
• Prior experience caring for children.
• Must be able to swim.
• Preferably 50+ years old.
• Responsible, trustworthy, and able to manage small household tasks independently.
• Flexibility to travel with the family when needed.
