Job Description
We are a Chinese family living on the Southside of Hong Kong Island, looking for an experienced helper to take care of our home and to be a warm companion to our 4.5-year-old daughter. Our household will be my husband, myself, our daughter.
We are looking for someone who will stay with us for many years, not just one contract.
What the role involves
Household
- Cooking daily family meals (Chinese cooking preferred)
- Cleaning, laundry, ironing, and keeping the home tidy and well organised
- Grocery shopping and general household errands
Our daughter
- School drop-off and pick-up, and escort to after-school classes
- Her snacks, play, reading together
- Her meals, laundry and room
She is bright, sensitive, and attaches strongly to the people who look after her. Time with her is part of the job, not something to fit in afterwards.
Who we are looking for
- Several years' experience running a household — cooking, cleaning, organising
- Genuine experience with children aged 3–6, not only housework
- Clear spoken English, and someone who talks with children, not only to them
- Comfortable reading picture books aloud
- Calm and patient when a child is upset — someone who stays close rather than scolding or distracting
- Someone who enjoys playing. We will ask what you would do with her on a rainy morning with no screens
- Long stays with previous families (2 years or more), with contactable references

Details
- Start: January 2027
- You should currently be in Hong Kong and finishing your contract normally
- We will speak with two of your previous employers by phone
- We will ask for a paid trial half-day, with our daughter, before deciding
