Job Requirement

Job Description

We are a family of 5 (soon 6) in Hong Kong — Mother (full-time at home), Eldest Daughter 13yo, Son 11yo (P5), Son 6yo (P1), Son 4yo (K2), and a 2yo (Baby 5) joining full-time in ~6 months. Father is based in Guangzhou and visits on some weekends with Baby 5.

Salary: HK$5,300/month now, rising to HK$5,600/month from the month Baby 5 joins full-time. Meals and accommodation provided. 1 rest day/week + statutory holidays.

Mother handles all school runs, lunch deliveries, and grocery shopping. Helper does NOT buy groceries or drive children.

Helper's main responsibilities: cooking, housekeeping (cleaning, laundry, folding, tidying, home organisation), and English tutoring for the two youngest children using materials provided by Mother.

Daily routine:

6:00 AM — Wake up, start cooking breakfast.

6:30 AM — Breakfast ready and served to Eldest Daughter (13yo).

6:50 AM — Pack and set aside Eldest Daughter's lunchbox. She leaves at 7:00 AM.

7:20 AM — Family breakfast ready. Serve breakfast to P5 (11yo) and P1 (6yo).

7:50 AM — Children leave for school (Mother handles all school runs). Helper tidies up after breakfast — clean kitchen, living areas, children's rooms. Start laundry, fold and put away clothes.

8:30 AM — Mother leaves to drop off K2 (4yo) at kindergarten, then buys fresh groceries on the way back. Helper continues housework at her own pace — finish laundry, tidy, put things away. The flat is small so tasks can be completed efficiently.

10:30 AM — Start preparing lunch for the family.

11:50 AM — Pack lunchboxes for P5 and P1. Must be ready by 11:50 AM sharp for Mother to deliver at 12:00 PM.

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM — Mother delivers lunch to school. Helper continues housework — finish any remaining laundry, tidy living areas. Goal: house clean by 1:00 PM.

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM — REST TIME.

3:00 PM – 4:30 PM — CHILDCARE DUTY (1.5 hours). Indoors with the TWO youngest only (now K2 4yo + future K1 2yo; later K2 4yo + Baby 5 2yo). Play, read books, light wipe-down/bath if needed. P1 (6yo) is NOT under helper's care.

4:30 PM — Mother picks up all children. Helper has the quiet house to herself.

4:30 PM – 5:30 PM — Prepare and cook dinner.

5:30 PM – 5:40 PM — Dinner service.

5:40 PM – 6:30 PM — Clean up kitchen and dining area.

7:00 PM – 9:00 PM — ENGLISH TUTORING DUTY (2 hours). Assist the two youngest with English learning using Mother's provided materials and curriculum. Educational play in English. No housework during this period.

Current: K2 (4yo) + P1 (6yo)

From ~6 months later: P1 moves out completely, becomes K2 (4yo) + Baby 5 (2yo)

9:00 PM onwards — Own time. No night duties. Sleeps in bunk bed with Eldest Daughter.

Scope rules:

  • Helper's role = cooking + housekeeping + English tutoring for the two youngest using provided materials
  • Cares for at most 2 children at once, always the two youngest
  • Childcare = structured play/tutoring ONLY, NOT daily living tasks (no feeding, bathing, dressing, toilet for any child outside tutoring hours)
  • P1 (6yo) is under helper's English support NOW, but moves out COMPLETELY when Baby 5 joins full-time — no English, no meals, no bath, no learning, nothing
  • Baby 5's occasional weekend visits do not count as fixed duty and do not trigger the salary increase — that only applies when Baby 5 joins full-time (~6 months)
  • During weekend visits, helper prepares meals for the extra people and does additional washing up — this is part of normal duties. Father helps with childcare on those days, so helper's childcare load is lighter

Looking for: honest, experienced with toddler care & basic English, able to follow learning materials/curriculum, non-smoker, no phone during childcare/tutoring hours.
