Job Description

Hello!

We are a Singaporean Chinese couple expecting our first baby in July/August. We are looking for a kind, responsible and proactive helper to become part of our family for the long term.

Expected Start Date: Between mid-August to mid-September

We hope to find someone who:

  • Has experience caring for infants or young children
  • Is patient, gentle and calm around babies
  • Takes initiative and has good judgement (for example, noticing potential problems early, letting us know, or taking appropriate action when needed)
  • Is comfortable communicating in English
  • Enjoys cooking healthy home-cooked meals or is willing to learn
  • Is organised, hygienic and takes pride in keeping the home clean
  • Is willing to learn and grow with our family

Main responsibilities:

  • Caring for our baby (primary responsibility)
  • Preparing healthy home-cooked meals for the family
  • General housekeeping, including cleaning and ironing

Our baby’s safety and wellbeing will always come first. Household chores should be completed when the baby is sleeping or when another family member is caring for him. As our child grows, responsibilities will naturally evolve, so we’re looking for someone who is adaptable.

Our household currently consists of two adults and a newborn in a 5-room HDB flat.

We will have a confinement nanny for the first two months after the birth, and we plan for our helper to overlap with the nanny for several weeks. We hope our helper will be willing to observe, ask questions and learn so that she feels confident caring for our baby independently afterwards.

What we offer:

  • A respectful, kind and fair working environment
  • Honest and open communication
  • Weekly rest day (or according to mutual agreement)
  • A small family with no elderly family members or pets
  • An opportunity to learn from an experienced confinement nanny during the first few weeks
  • A clean, organised home where we work together as a team

We don’t expect perfection. We appreciate someone who is honest, asks questions when unsure, and is always willing to learn and improve. We believe in treating our helper with respect, kindness and fairness, and we hope to build a relationship based on mutual trust. We care about our helper’s physical and emotional wellbeing, and we’re looking for someone who wants to become a valued part of our family for many years.
