Hi, my name is Elvie. I'm 43 years old, single, and I have one child. I’ve been working as a domestic helper for 20 years. For 16 of those years, I was in Singapore. My first job was with a Chinese Singaporean family for 4 years, and then I worked for a Japanese-British family for 10 years. My main focus was always taking care of the kids, followed by cleaning, cooking, sometimes, and shopping. During COVID, they moved to New York, and unfortunately, I was with my last employer for less than 2 years before they moved out.

After that, I moved to Hong Kong, where I've spent over 4 years with at least 2 different employers. Right now, I’ve been with my current employer for 1 year and 9 months. I work for a Chinese family with 2 adults and 2 kids. My responsibilities here include looking after the kids, cooking, shopping, and cleaning. I have coworkers here, and we share the responsibilities. My main priority is taking care of the younger son, and we alternate cooking each week.
