Careen Joy

Hi, my name is Careen. I am a 35-year-old Filipina and a graduate of the Diploma in Midwifery in the Philippines. I am married with two children and currently working as a domestic helper in Hong Kong with 3 years of experience.

My current employer is a single mom with one child who is 11 years old. My job responsibilities include doing simple house chores such as housekeeping, particularly dusting, cleaning the toilet, cleaning the rooms, changing beddings, mopping, and doing laundry. Sometimes, I do the grocery shopping for items like tissues and fruits, but most of the time, my employer orders everything—including rice, vegetables, frozen meats, frozen fish, and more—delivered right to our door.

For child care, I help prepare the school materials that need to be taken, bathe the child, put her to sleep, and drop her off and pick her up from school and other activities.

For teen care, since I’m currently taking care of an 11-year-old who is quite independent, I just assist with her needs and accompany her to school activities and others if necessary.

I started working here in Hong Kong in 2018. My contract was signed by my male boss (husband). After my contract ended, I went back home to the Philippines to continue my studies. After graduating, I was hired again by my previous employer, with my contract signed by the female boss (wife) just last year in April 2025. They just divorced last November 2025 which is why she is single now.

My employer is planning to move back to her parents' house for personal reasons and no longer needs my services, as her daughter is already grown up. I will be released in March and am looking for a new employer before my flight back to the Philippines. I can provide a reference letter, as my employer has promised to give me one once I find a new employer.
