Hi, I'm Estrella, and I'm 56 years old. I've been widowed for 12 years and I'm a mother of two sons. I started working here in Hong Kong in the year 2000. My first job was with a family that had a couple and two young boys, ages 5 and 8. My duties included taking the kids to school six days a week, cooking, and cleaning — basically, I was doing everything around the house. After a year, my boss had to stop working for some reason, so they introduced me to a close friend in 2010. I started working with that family the same year. It was a couple, their 16-year-old son, and I did the same kind of work: cleaning, cooking, and marketing. After 14 years with them, the son became independent and moved into his own flat, which meant they no longer needed my help. They then introduced me to another friend, and that’s how I ended up with my current employer, which is another couple with a 16-year-old son and a 20-year-old daughter. Both of the kids are also independent. My duties here include cleaning, tidying up three rooms, and handling all the cooking. I go to the market every day and prepare dinner — like boiling Chinese long soup and making various other dishes. I'll finish my contract on September 9, 2025, and I'm looking for a new employer.
