Joann

Hi Everyone! I’m Joann, a 41-year-old mother of a 5-year-old boy. I have been working here in Hong Kong since January 2005, primarily with Western families. I completed three contracts before deciding to expand my experience by working with expatriates and exploring new opportunities in my field. Working in domestic roles can be challenging, especially when it comes to adjusting to different lifestyles and cultures.

After transitioning to work with expatriates, I found that they frequently leave and relocate—which is happening once again. I previously worked with a British diplomat, where I gained valuable experience coordinating dinner parties and playdates for children, as well as caring for pets. I can provide a recommendation letter if needed. Throughout my career, I have also worked with families from France, Brazil, and I am currently employed by an Australian family, who will soon be relocating back to Australia. I will be released on March 31, 2025, and I'm looking for a new employer. I sincerely hope to find a new family to work with. 

In this line of work, I believe that initiative, flexibility, and effective communication are essential for building a smooth and healthy relationship with employers, whether living in or out.
