Hi, I’m Karen, and I'm 34 years old. I’ve been working as a domestic helper in Hong Kong for almost 6 years for my first employer. My 1st contract responsibilities in the house are assisting with school homework, cleaning the house, cooking simple Chinese dishes, ironing, laundry, playing, and reading books every meal and bedtime.

My 2nd contract is with the same employer; my employer got pregnant with his 2nd son, and I am the one taking care of the baby (6 months old boy), such as massaging the back, legs, and arms, cooking steamed food, reading books every meal and bedtime stories, showering the baby, changing nappies, sleeping (at night, the mommy is the one who sleeps with the baby), cleaning the house when the baby is sleeping, playing at the indoor playground, having playdates with his same age, and going to playgroup.

In the afternoon, I am also in charge of the oldest brother to fetch him from school, go to outdoor activities, assist with some school homework, and play with him. My employer hired a 2nd helper when the baby was 1 year and 3 months old, so that we can share the work and obligations as a team.

For my 2nd employer, I've been working with them for almost 2 years, and I am finishing my contract on November 26, 2026. My responsibilities are cooking, assisting with school homework, cleaning the house, ironing, doing the laundry, and spending time playing.
