Hi, I’m Kate. I’m 46 years old, married, and I have two kids, a 22-year-old son and a 16-year-old child. I’ve been working as a domestic helper for almost eight years now. From 2016 to 2018, I was in Malaysia, where I took care of a family of seven, which included a 94-year-old grandpa. My job involved cleaning two houses: one was where I lived with a couple, their grandpa, and their two dogs, and the other was a condo where their three adult children lived. My daily tasks included cleaning, cooking, ironing, washing the car, doing laundry, and taking care of the pets. Currently, I’m in Hong Kong, where I’ve been working with one elderly woman since March 2016. I will be finishing my job in January 2026, as she wants to have a new helper before the Chinese New Year. My daily chores here include cleaning five bedrooms and three bathrooms (including my own), cooking, ironing, doing laundry, washing the car, and handling groceries and marketing tasks.
