Hi, good day! I’m Leah, 36 years old, married, and a mother of two—one son and one daughter. I’m currently working in Hong Kong. My journey as a domestic helper hasn’t been easy, especially at the start. I spent two years in Saudi Arabia as a food server, but my salary was not enough, so I decided to finish my contract and seek a job in another country. Luckily, after two months, I was hired as a nanny and an all-around worker for an Emirati family. In that role, I did laundry, ironing, cooking, and prepared food for both the elderly and a baby. I also helped with gardening, car washing, and looked after two dogs. I actually enjoyed having a variety of tasks, but after six years, just before the pandemic, my husband and I decided it was best not to go back. I spent the next three years in the Philippines, during which time I had a baby girl. Life in my country was challenging, even with our small bakery business, so I decided to apply again in Hong Kong. I got hired by a Chinese family, where I've been doing laundry, ironing, cleaning, and tidying up the house. I’ve also taken up some gardening and love cooking. I enjoy taking care of pets, especially cats and dogs. Now that my contract is finishing on January, I’m looking for a new employer to experience a different culture and meet new people. I’m a fast learner and a good listener. If I make a mistake, I appreciate any corrections. I have a strong faith and pride myself on being an independent worker.
