Hi, I’m Elena. I’m 34 years old and I’m from the Philippines. I’ve been working as a domestic helper in Hong Kong for 6 years. My last employer was a Chinese family, but they moved out of Hong Kong. I was with them for about 5 years and 5 months, from 2021 to 2025, where I took care of their two boys who were 7 months and 3 years old. My main tasks included looking after the kids, cleaning, cooking, washing, doing the shopping, and even tutoring them. It was a really happy time for me, and I found it very meaningful.

Now, I’m with another Chinese family, and I’ve been with them for almost a year since August 2025. I care for their 6-year-old girl and help the couple too. I handle cleaning, cooking, washing, and I also drop off and pick her up from school and other activities. Unfortunately, I’m thinking about breaking my contract and can leave anytime once I find a new employer. The work environment isn’t healthy anymore. My employers tend to shout and speak negatively every day, and they don’t let me wash my clothes at home. So, on my days off, which are Sundays, I have to take all my laundry, including blankets and bedsheets, to my sister’s place to wash. Right now, I’m back in the Philippines and ready to start processing things immediately once I get hired. I really believe I deserve a better situation where I can help a family while also growing in a positive and happy environment. Thank you for considering me!
