Maria Christina

Hi, I’m Maria Christina. I’m 42 years old and currently living in Hong Kong. I have 8 years of experience as a Domestic Helper.

I started working abroad in 2014 for a Syrian family in Abu Dhabi. There were 5 people in the family: a husband, a wife, and their 3 kid, a 15-year-old boy, a 10-year-old girl, and a 5-year-old girl. My main duties included taking care of the house, cleaning and tidying up all the rooms, washing and ironing clothes, and helping the youngest with her school assignments and activities. Sometimes I cooked for them as well. I completed my contract there.

After that, I applied for a job in Singapore with a family of 3 and their 2 cute dogs. It was just the sir and his 2 kids, a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy. My main responsibilities were looking after the dogs and cleaning the house, washing and ironing clothes, and tidying up. I would also give the dogs baths, feed them, and take them for walks. Sometimes, I cooked simple dishes since the sir was often out of town and the kids were at school all day. I finished that contract too.

My first employer here in Hong Kong was a couple. My main duties were cleaning, cooking, and marketing. I worked with them for 2 years and finished my contract. The reason I didn’t renew was that they needed to migrate to Canada.

My current employer is also just a husband and wife, and I will finish my contract with them on October 22.

I consider myself honest and eager to learn more. I always try to stay positive, even when things get tough. I believe that being happy is the key to success.
