Hello, I’m Maribelle from the Philippines, and I’m 57 years old. I’ve been working in Hong Kong since 1992. My first job was with a Chinese family, and when I started, they had a 2-year-old son. After a year and a half, my employer got pregnant again, so I cared for their two boys for five years until they moved to Canada. My duties included marketing, cooking, cleaning, and taking the kids to school while their parents were at work. For my second employer, I worked for six years. They had an 8-year-old son when I joined them. I looked after him, did the cooking, and took care of cleaning their office. My lady boss was a stay-at-home mom, so she looked after her son when I was in the office. Then, with my third employer, I worked for 15 years. I cared for her since she was 70 and had diabetes, so she needed help with bathing and daily activities. I also managed her medications, including giving her insulin when her nurse wasn’t available. Besides personal care, I handled cleaning, ironing, cooking, and other household tasks. Right now, I’m with my fourth employer and have been with them for eight years. I am finishing my contract on May 4. They won’t be renewing my contract because their daughter is now 16 and grown up, and my lady boss doesn’t work anymore, so she can do my job. My role here has been to assist with cooking, do the marketing, cleaning, ironing, clean the car, and take care of their two cats. I hope you will consider hiring me even though I am older. I am still physically fit and strong enough to do the job. Thank you!
