Hi, I’m Merlene. I’m 40 years old and single. I’ve been working as a domestic helper here in Hong Kong for about 7 years with different employers. My first job was taking care of an elderly woman who couldn’t walk. After that, I cared for another lady, but I couldn’t renew my contract because she moved to Australia.

Right now, I’m looking after four adults and two cats. My main responsibilities include taking care of an older man, doing household chores, cooking meals, shopping for groceries, and looking after the cats. I’ve been with this family for 3 years and 4 months, but my employer terminated my contract because they don’t need a helper anymore; they’ve moved her father to an elderly home.
