I’m Aiza, I’m 38 years old and single, and I have one child. I’ve been in the Philippines for 1 year, but before that, I worked as a domestic helper in Qatar for 2 years. When I got there, I was assigned to care for an adult with a disability. He had about 40% of his brain function, and he couldn’t walk or speak.
My job was to take care of all his daily needs. This included feeding him, bathing him, changing his diapers, checking his vital signs, and giving him his medication. I also helped move him from his bed to a patient lifter and then to his wheelchair, and back.
Every morning, I would massage his legs and arms as part of his daily routine.
I learned so much from this experience. It taught me to be more understanding, patient, and compassionate since he relied on me for support and care. Every day, I did my best to give him the care he needed.
I truly love my work, and that’s why I always approached my patient with love, kindness, and respect. This experience showed me that being a caregiver is not just about completing tasks; it’s also about having a heart that understands and a spirit that is patient, along with a genuine desire to make a difference in someone’s life. Now, I'm back in my home country and looking for a new employer. Thank you!
