I currently work as a domestic worker in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I take care of a family with two elderly members with disabilities, along with six other adults and a two-year-old child. My main responsibilities include looking after the elderly and the child, cooking meals, and attending their check-ups. I also handle housework like cleaning, washing, and ironing.
Before this, I worked as a domestic helper in Hong Kong from 2019 to 2020. My main tasks there were to care for two kids, ages 5 and 2. I cooked and prepared their meals, helped them get ready for school, and took them to the school bus. After that, I did the shopping and cleaning, tidied up the house, and picked up the kids when they returned. I also prepared their fruit snacks and helped them shower, get dressed, brush their teeth, and I even shared a room with the two-year-old. I was responsible for helping her fall asleep at night.
Unfortunately, my employer didn’t mention that the two-year-old had a skin condition, which made her very itchy and caused her to wake up frequently during the night. I would apply cream to help her sleep again, but the itching kept coming back, which made it hard for me to get rest and affected my health. That’s why I decided to break my contract—it just wasn’t working out. I did try to talk to my employer about the issues, but we couldn’t find a solution.
Overall, I’m a hardworking person who loves what I do as long as it’s fair and in line with the contract. I’m independent, reliable, and I pay attention to instructions. I’m also open to learning new things.
