Hi there, I'm Dianiella, I'm 34 years old and I’m a single mom with two lovely daughters, one is 17 and the other is 2. I’ve been living here in the Philippines since 2023. I have two brothers, and I’m the middle child. My father has passed away, and my mother stays at home to take care of my kids.

My first job was with a Chinese couple who are 78 and 79 years old (we call them Mama and Yeye). My main responsibility was taking care of Yeye, who was sick and needed to go to the dialysis center three times a week. Every morning, I would check his body temperature, give him his medications on time, and take him out for mild exercise and walking in the park. We usually ate out together (having yum cha), and at the end of the day, I would help him bathe, dress him, and then put him to bed.

After two years of working with them, I decided not to renew my contract and look for a new employer.

My second job was with another Chinese couple who had two kids and one grandfather. My main duties there included taking care of their two small dogs.

I worked there for five and a half years. We lived in Mount Nicholson in a 10,000 sq. ft. house. I handled gardening, car washing, cooking, pet care, and other house chores. My employers were often away because they live in China, so my coworker and I managed the house with one adult and the dogs, working without needing supervision. When my contract was almost up, I chose to go home and visit my family after COVID-19. However, when I returned to Hong Kong, I found out I was pregnant. My employer and I talked about my situation, and we agreed that I should go home to have my baby and then come back. Unfortunately, while they were out of town, the house needed renovations. The helpers were allowed to stay in the house, but sadly, that meant I could not go back to work in Hong Kong again. Now, I’ve been here in the Philippines for three years and I'm looking to return to work. Thank you so much for considering my experience; I hope it’s enough to find another job.
