Gennie Jane

My name is Gennie Jane, and I’m 47 years old. I’m married and have one child. I’ve been working in Singapore for 6 years, from August 1999 to July 2005, as a nanny and domestic helper. I cared for three children aged 7, 3, and a newborn. I helped with their bathing and grooming, and I assisted them with their schoolwork. For the baby, I helped with feeding, changing diapers, organizing baby items, and playing. I would even sing lullabies to help her sleep, and I made sure to sterilize the bottles too. I cooked nutritious meals for the family and took care of cleaning, washing, ironing, and ensuring the home was safe and comfortable. My goal was to keep the kids safe and happy.

After that, I worked in Taiwan for 12 years with a family of six. There, I took care of two children, aged 8 and 9. I helped them with their bathing and grooming and prepared snacks for their school. I also assisted them with English, Mathematics, and Science. Besides that, I handled cleaning, washing, marketing, and even washing the car.

Later, I worked in Taiwan again as a caregiver for a grandma who was 70 years old and had colon cancer, which meant she needed a colostomy bag. I helped her bathe, cooked vegetarian meals, and cleaned her colostomy bag every day. I took her to hospital check-ups, managed her medications, and made sure she was fed daily. I also enjoyed taking her to the park for some exercise and to meet new friends.
