I am Lorena, 57 years old, and Filipino. I am separated and I have 4 children. My experience as a domestic helper has been both challenging and heartbreaking. I have worked for 4 years as a domestic helper in Hong Kong. I had to leave my own children behind to care for another family’s child as my source of income. Despite this, the experience has shaped me into a better version of myself. It was also fulfilling because I was able to integrate into a family that was initially unfamiliar to me and earn their trust in raising their child. Through this experience, I gained valuable skills in childcare, household management, and effective communication, which have helped me grow both personally and professionally.
