Ma Joan

Good day, Madam. I'm Ma Joan, I’m 35 years old, married, and I have one kid. I’m Filipino. I’ve been working as a domestic helper in Kuwait City for 2 years, and before that, I worked in Singapore. My first employer was a Chinese family. They were really nice, but then they faced some financial issues and had to send me back to my agency. However, they were kind enough to give me a recommendation letter and paid me five months' salary. I had a great relationship with them, especially with the children. My second employer was a Singaporean family, but sadly, I only worked for them for four months. They were not good employers; they often didn’t provide me with food or rest, and I experienced physical harm from the children. During those four months, I lost weight and felt really stressed because I was hungry and exhausted. I worked in a large house, so I decided to speak to my agent and then to my employer about wanting to go home.
