My name is Irene, I am a 41‑year‑old Filipino with 15 years of household work experience in Singapore. I worked with two families. For my first employer, I spent a total of 6 years caring for an elderly man who had Parkinson’s disease, hypertension, and diabetes. Later, he became bedridden. I do cleaning, laundry, cooking, car washing, and marketing. I first worked with them for 2 years, then returned in 2013 for another 4 years. For my second employer, I worked for 9 years and 2 months. I am breaking my contract on January 31, 2027. I cared for two children who were toddlers when I started (ages 3 and 4) and are now 12 and 14. My responsibilities included preparing meals and snacks, bathing them at night, ensuring a safe environment for play, car washing, marketing, and dog care.
