About Us

We are a bilingual English-Mandarin family based in Kowloon Tong, Kowloon. Sir speaks both English and Mandarin, while Madam fluently communicates in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English.

Our son, aged 2.5 years, attends half-day morning school in Kowloon Tong. We are looking for a warm and active helper who genuinely enjoys working with children.

Our household comprises two adults and one child. There are no elderly family members or pets, and our apartment is of manageable size.

We are eager to have someone join us as soon as possible.

Your Day (This Is What the Job Looks Like)

MORNING (6:00–9:00 AM):

  • Wake early and prepare breakfast for the child.
  • Cook and pack the child's lunch box.
  • Get the child ready for school (clothing and bag).
  • Accompany the child to school (MTR commute).
  • Send us confirmation of arrival and a video.

MIDDAY (9:00 AM–1:00 PM):

  • Grocery shopping (wet market and/or supermarket, with price updates).
  • Pick the child up from school.
  • Feed the child lunch at school before the MTR commute home.
  • Assist the child in falling asleep upon arrival at home.

AFTERNOON (1:00–7:00 PM):

  • Supervise the child's afternoon nap.
  • Conduct laundry, cleaning, and other household tasks.
  • Prepare ingredients for dinner.
  • Engage with the child when he wakes (supervision, playtime, and reading).
  • Cook dinner for the family, while Sir plays with him.

EVENING (7:00–9:30 PM):

  • Enjoy dinner together.
  • Assist with bathing and dressing the child.
  • Help the child fall asleep.
  • Complete evening household tasks.
  • Send us your task list before heading to your room.

Rest day: Alternate Sundays.

Cooking — This Is Critical

We prepare Chinese home food daily, and you will be responsible for cooking the main dinner every day. This role positions you as the primary cook, and you will not just be assisting.

It is essential that you are capable of independently cooking Chinese dishes. While we will provide a recipe book with photos, you should already know how to:

  • Make bone soup correctly (not the same as braised ribs).
  • Braise pork ribs with ginger, soy sauce, and black vinegar.
  • Stir-fry green vegetables to maintain their bright color and crunch.
  • Prepare a tomato and egg stir-fry.
  • Cook various tofu dishes.
  • Prepare toddler-sized portions.

We will request a short video of you cooking a Chinese dish before moving forward, which is a non-negotiable requirement.

Requirements (Please Read Carefully)

  • Must have completed at least ONE full 2-year contract in Hong Kong (preferably finished).
  • Must have experience in Chinese home cooking; you should know how to cook independently
  • from day one.
  • Fluent in English for reading recipes, sending WhatsApp messages with photos throughout
  • the day, and communicating effectively.
  • Proficient in Mandarin OR Cantonese; understanding simple instructions in either language is
  • essential.
  • Strong short-term memory to follow multi-step instructions without constant reiteration.
  • Possess common sense and problem-solving abilities to handle unexpected situations calmly.Able to navigate Hong Kong streets and MTR for commuting independently with the child.
  • Comfortable with written schedules and photo documentation; we utilize WhatsApp for
  • managing tasks.
  • Experience with young children to ensure their safety and developmental stimulation.References will be verified; we will contact at least two past employers with specific inquiries.
  • Maintain good personal hygiene as this is a live-in role in a compact apartment.

  • You are a first-time helper. This role requires independent experience.
  • You need step-by-step supervision for cooking.
