May Lanie

Hi, I’m Lanie, 29 years old, and I’m married with one child. I don’t have formal work experience as a helper, but my time as a Barangay Health Worker (BHW) has really shaped who I am. In this role, I've been able to support and care for my community right where it matters most. I connect residents with important healthcare services. Each day, I visit homes to check on those who need extra support, help the midwife during vaccination drives, and keep our patient health records up to date. I also take on the role of an educator, teaching families about sanitation, how to prevent outbreaks, and how to get ready for emergencies. This experience has helped me understand local issues deeply and taught me how to handle health and safety situations efficiently. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology, and that education has worked really well with my healthcare role. It taught me a lot about discipline, leadership, and staying calm under pressure, which has been helpful during stressful moments. I also learned about community relations and human behavior, which helps me see how health and safety are closely connected in building a strong community. My personality mixes firmness with deep empathy. I’m observant and resilient, which means I can walk long distances and manage challenging conditions without losing my focus. On the other hand, I’m patient, approachable, and a good listener, which helps me build trusting relationships with the families I serve. With my background in criminology and my health experience, I’m committed to being a public servant who is always ready to protect and care for the well-being of our barangay.
